Dreamy Couple Photo Session in Pratomagno, Tuscany
When Valentina and Niccolo told me they’d like a pre-wedding photo session, the choice of location was obvious – my beloved Pratomagno. This little mountain is unlike any other panorama you can find in Tuscany. It recalls Scottish hills rather than an Italian landscape and is very romantic at any time of year.
Not only was the location full of romance, but also the couple was so in love they made my heart melt. They prepared love letters to read to one another and it felt like a symbolic ceremony, the first promise they made before getting married.
It was more than a photo session, it was a time of tearful love declaration and joyful celebration of their relationship. All of that in the breathtaking surroundings of Pratomagno.
From Berlin to Tuscany, Viola and Thomas brought with them big smiles and a lot of good energy. Their wedding day was a perfect Italian dream – the weather was great, the location romantically rustic and the views, what can I say about the views, beautiful vineyards and the sun setting behind the hills.
Almost the whole wedding took place in Borgo Castelvecchi. Its antique rooms made for a poetic background for preparations. Both the bride and the groom were getting ready there, but they hadn’t met until the ceremony.
The ceremony was held in a nearby church and it melted my heart to see Viola and Thomas so much in love and their little girl on their lap in front of the altar.
After the ceremony the wedding moved back to the borgo. First everyone enjoyed a well deserved aperitivo with live Italian music. There was an ice-cream cart for the youngest guests, games in the garden, light snacks and drinks. After which everyone sat down at a beautifully decorated dinner table, where they enjoyed the food, laughed at the speeches and made countless toasts to celebrate the love of the bride and groom.
The whole day ended with a wild electronic party. The majority of the guests were young friends and as soon as the DJ put the music on, the dance floor was full.
It was such a joy to witness Viola and Thomas’ wedding. It was one of the ones that make me love my job.
Villa Spadaforte is unlike other places in Tuscany, because the ceremonies are not held with a panorama in the backdrop, but in a pine forest, which on a hot day in July is a true blessing.
The forest setting was a perfect match to the boho style of the wedding. The ceremony was beautifully decorated with pampas grass and flowers of all colours and the ground was covered by stylish Turkish carpets. This boho look made it all seem like a movie scene from Hollywood and it didn’t stop there. Also the dinner setting had the same romantic, young and free feeling to it.
The cherry on top was a roof of lights suspended above the table. It looked like a starry night on a warm evening in Italy.
Marissa, Frank and their guests flew all the way from the USA to get married and their efforts were really worth it, as they lived a perfect wedding day surrounded by their loved ones and the sound of cicadas.
Intimate photo session that tells a story of a girl who entangled in her own thoughts, feelings and beliefs, finds the way to peel off her layers and discover herself.
Covered by layers of fabric, she felt limited, imprisoned and unhappy in her own world. The layers that weighed her down were her doubts, fears and lack of self-esteem. Each layer was hard to strip. It took months to peel them off. They were heavy and unconstructive, but they were her comfort zone. She felt cramped, but safe inside of her bubble.
Yet there came a day when she finally found courage to reach her hand out and peel off the first layer – doubts. With doubts not carrying her down any more, she managed to peel off another layer – her fears. With her fears under control, she then started to nourish her self-esteem and managed to take down the last layer.
Writing down her thoughts and listening to her heart helped her immensely in that process. On the day she gathered the strength to leave her comfort zone, she looked at herself mesmerized. She forgot how beautiful, strong and independent she was. She felt like a goddess in her own body and slowly learned to play with life. At that point she started feeling peaceful, happy… and curious. Curious of what life had in stock for her.
She was ready.
“There came a day when she finally found courage to reach her hand out and peel off the first layer – doubts.”
It was a rainy day in Cortona. For many it would be bad luck, but not for Abigale and Alex. They came from the UK for their special day and were so happy and emotional about it that nothing could change their spirits. They chose to get married in private. Just the two of them and a wedding celebrant. No guests, no party, just her, him and their promise.
They got married in magical relais La Corte dei Papi in Cortona and lived their day embraced, overjoyed and so much in love, it almost seemed unreal.
Witnessing their ceremony felt like a priviledge and made me realise that I totally love love love elopements.
